Cairns Mountain Bike Club
Website Development
The Cairns Mountain Bike Club is a volunteer-led organisation that plays a key role in maintaining and supporting one of Australia’s most recognised trail networks at Smithfield Mountain Bike Park.
The club is driven by its members, with a strong focus on trail maintenance, events, and growing the local riding community. Like many volunteer-based organisations, time and resources are limited, which made managing and updating the website increasingly difficult.
We worked with the club to create a website that better supports their day-to-day operations, making it easier to share information, keep members informed, and help new riders find their way into the community.

The Challenge
The existing website no longer reflected the scale or quality of what the park and club offer. As the club has grown, so has the amount of information across the site, but without a clear structure to support it.
Key content, such as membership details, event information, and trail access, was difficult to find, particularly for new riders unfamiliar with the club. At the same time, regular members had to navigate multiple sections to stay up to date.
From an operational perspective, the site was also becoming harder to manage. Updating content, publishing events, and maintaining consistency required more effort than it should.
The Solution
Integrations & Live Data
A key part of the project was connecting the website with the tools and platforms the club already relies on, while keeping everything accessible in one place.
Trail Network & Conditions
The site integrates with Trailforks to display live trail maps directly within the website. This allows users to explore the trails without leaving the site while surfacing important information, such as trail status and weather conditions, which are critical for planning rides in the region.
Events & Results
We implemented a structured approach to managing events and results, reducing the need to send users to external platforms. While the club continues to use their existing event management tools, the website now presents this information in a clearer and more consistent way, keeping everything easier to access and navigate.
Social Media Feed
Social media plays a major role in how the club communicates updates. We integrated their live feeds directly into the website, making it easier for users to stay informed wherever they are, without having to jump between platforms.
User Experience & Structure
We redesigned the site architecture to prioritise clarity and ease of use, making it straightforward to join the club, find events and results or plan a visit.
Design
The visual direction leans on strong graphics and imagery and a clean layout that feels active and modern, without overcomplicating the interface.
Development
The site was built on WordPress with a flexible backend, allowing the club to manage updates, events, and content without relying on developers.
