Building a modern, unifying brand identity

Forte Marketing collaborated with the Catholic Diocese of Cairns to create a modern, unified brand identity that reflects its vision of “Encountering Christ, sharing our joy.” Serving 23 parishes and 30 schools across Far North Queensland, the new identity provides clarity, consistency, and a welcoming presence at every contact point.

The Challenge

The Catholic Diocese of Cairns stretches across 23 parishes and 30 schools, from Cardwell to Cape York and the Torres Strait. Despite its reach, the Diocese faced a fragmented identity, inconsistent fonts, colours, and logos across schools and parishes.

They needed a modern, cohesive brand that could:

  • Reflect their vision of “Encountering Christ, sharing our joy.”
  • Engage younger and older audiences alike.
  • Provide clarity and consistency across digital, print, and community platforms.
  • Enable staff across 50+ sites to confidently apply the brand without specialist design support.

The Solution

Forte Marketing partnered with the Diocese to deliver a comprehensive rebrand:

Logo Design

A stylised map of the region, intersected by a cross, symbolising both the breadth of the Diocese and its faith mission. Delivered as a flexible suite (primary, simplified, and mono versions) for use across uniforms, signage, and digital platforms.

Colour Palette & Typography

Inspired by Far North Queensland’s tropical landscapes, we created a fresh palette of greens and established clear font hierarchies to ensure readability and modern appeal.

Brand Kit & Templates

A practical toolkit including business cards, letterheads, email signatures, social graphics, video elements, and magazine covers, empowering staff to deliver communications consistently.

Brand Guidelines

A full set of brand guidelines was produced and supported by templates, ensuring smooth rollout across all parishes and schools.

The Diocese now has a unified, modern identity that honours tradition while presenting a welcoming and inclusive face to the community.

From parish newsletters to school signage, the brand communicates with clarity, consistency, and joy, strengthening the connection between the Diocese and the communities it serves.
